Our Review of Citysearch

We started advertising with Citysearch this year and so far, the experience has been ok to poor.

Isn’t it ironic that a site that is dedicated to user reviews does NOT have its own profile page for users to review?

We don’t normally air out problems like this, but since Citysearch is a review website that does not have its own review page, we thought we’d share our experience like other reviewers on Citysearch.

Overall Score:  1.5 (out of 5)

This is mainly due to service.  Here are some examples:

  1. They setup our account wrong, where the budget was blown in 2 days, and we had to claw our way to get our money back.
  2. Account rep does not reply in a timely manner.  Forget emails, as they are rarely answered.  Phone calls work better, but don’t help if trying to solve a problem that requires email.  Another thing ironic for a web-based organization.
  3. Random charges on credit card with no explanation.   Then, you have to deal with #2.
  4. Reps don’t provide good advice/enough information.  Spoke with Rep about changing Ad type to see if it would work better and asked if there’s anything else we should know about this type of Ad.  Rep said no, so we switched.  Later found that this resulted in the wrong setup that blew our monthly budget in 2 days.  They then changed something.  Following month, our Ad just plain did not show up and the Rep did not know what triggers the Ad so that our Ad would display.   So much for “anything else we should know”.

Is Citysearch right for you?  Maybe.  So far, we have been underwhelmed.

How about you?  What has your experience been?  What what you rate Citysearch?

Update:

Can’t see or edit our profile – we get an error message.  So I emailed the rep.  No word, so called 2 days later and spoke with her.  After she couldn’t see our profile either, she said she would ask tech support.

No word back.  Although we’re getting clicks, it’s quite frustrating that we can’t see or edit our profile/ad for which we’re paying.

Dropped Citysearch 1/2 star to 1.5.  #fail
